Something’s wrong with the world today…

It’s snowing!

I know this probably isn’t a big deal for a lot of you, but here in England it is. It has been properly cold for a while now and last Tuesday we got our first taste of the white stuff, but yesterday it really started and today everything is pretty and white.

Outside our house is a big field, probably about the size of two football pitches, I think. Anyway, it’s big, and it is covered in a thick layer of snow. Now we live in a reasonably new estate where there are quite a lot of young children, so I was expecting lots of them to be out there making snowmen, having snowball fights, making snow angels, sledging or just running around in it. But when Elisabeth and I went outside for a play with her new sledge, there were only two people out there, me and Elisabeth.

Where were all the children? Why didn’t they all come out at first light and play in the snow? Where were their parents? Why weren’t they pulling sledges and helping with the snowmen? I was confused.

Elisabeth and I had a great time though. She wasn’t too keen on sitting in her sledge, but she enjoyed pulling it along. She also loved the snowman we made and put on the sledge to take to our back garden.

When we were both soaking wet and cold through and through, we went home, and the field was left empty. Something’s wrong with the world today…….

  2. Well, at least you guys had a good time. We haven’t had much snow here this winter (so far) and my youngest keeps requesting to go sledding.

    1. We had a brilliant time! Even though Elisabeth didn’t want to go on her sledge…..didn’t stop us πŸ™‚

      1. Is a sledge like a sled?

  4. I know our field here had only us on it too.

Are people truly that wrapped in cotton wool they can’t come out to play.

    1. It’s a shame isn’t it. Kids just don’t seem to play outside as much anymore. Thanks for stopping by.
