De-icious, children do say the funniest things!

After a good three weeks of feeling rotten with the cold from hell, I finally feel better. I still get out of breath from walking up the stairs (although that is probably lack of fitness rather than cold) but I have been able to sleep without having to take cold medicine to knock me out, so I can’t complain πŸ™‚

Elisabeth’s talking has really improved over the last few weeks and she comes out with some funny stuff.

Everytime Elisabeth eats or drinks something that she likes she will lift her little face up, put on this huge smile and say: de-icious! She is also really into talking on the phone, whether this is the real phone or her toy phone doesn’t seem to matter to her. She has regular conversations with Bob the builder, Peppa Pig and Dora the explorer πŸ™‚

Last Wednesday she happily spent an hour and a half in her cot without having a nap and when my mother in law went in to get her and asked what she had been up to, Elisabeth looked up and said: “washing” as if it was the most logical thing to do when in bed πŸ™‚

The funniest things though are the ones that they don’t get quite right. She knows that she needs to ask me for help if she is struggling with something but she doesn’t quite get how. Several times a day she will come and take my hand, walk me to whatever she is doing and she’ll say: “Mummy needs help”. Ha ha, they do say the funniest things!

  1. Oh she is too cute! When did her vocabulary really start growing? Avery has never been much of a talker. Man does he man lots of noises though. He smacks his lips after taking a drink. He pants like a dog when he sees one. He rolls his lips and makes the ‘brrrrum’ and ‘vrumm’ noises of a car or boat. But his vocab is still around 10 words: bah for ball, da-da for daddy, bah for bath, choo choo for train, etc. But I know that he’s super smart cuz if I say, ‘Avery go put your pajamas in your dresser.” while doing laundry, he does! He’s a smart cookie, just a quiet one I guess?

    1. Aw, thanks! Elisabeth didn’t really say much until a few months ago and now she won’t stop. He might do the same. It’s wonderful when they start communicating. Hope Avery is feeling better.

      1. Thanks, Avery is MUCH better. Back to acting, eating, and sleeping normal. I think he’s going thru a growth spurt actually… he seems to be filling out and won’t stop eating!!! He’s outgrowing his 18 months clothes… and he’s only turning 16 months this week!

      2. I’m glad he is better, it is so horrible when they’re ill. Elisabeth has always been wearing clothes the next size up as well (she’s got her mummy’s long legs I think). 16 months, wow, doesn’t time fly!
